You are FIRED!!!

“You’re fired!” is an informal exclamation commonly associated with an employer informing the employee of his or her dismissal, an involuntary termination of employment for a reason and or reasons often perceived to be the fault of the employee.

This is the way WIKIPEDIA formally attempts to define the catchphrase. And we, the ‘breadwinners’ of the society do get an impression, no different from this one, when these words are spat upon us by our “BOSSES”. While what happened before that moment is of utter concern to the BOSS only, what happens next decides the future course of the part of the TIME flow, that is dedicated to the victim’s life. Now, friends…. Indians and non-Indians (for everyone needs “bread” to survive), since you all have lent me your ears (eyes, to be more precise in this case), let me not bore you any more with these humdrum definitions, but disclose before you all, a Universal truth, that undoubtedly played a vital role in guiding (or rather misguiding) the events that adorn our history books and threatens to lead our future into the dark ages once again!

To understand the fact better, let us understand the implications of the phrase from the viewpoint of different subjects in chronological order:

SUBJECT 1 : A DROPLET OF HOLY WATER FROM THE “MUG”  OF A SAINT:
The ‘rishi muni‘ finds his ‘amrita‘ consumed by the vicious ‘mahisasura‘, and all his efforts of a successful ‘yajna‘ goes in total waste. The enraged muni pours a handful of water, chants a few mantras, and sprinkles it on the asura, cursing him that he will be annihilated by a lady (by a goddess to be appropriate). And what we get in result is the “Durgotinashini – Maa Durga”, also knows as “Mahisasura-Mardini” , the slayer of Mahisasura. Now, this was such a commendable event in Hindu mythology. Had those drops of Holy water not been”fired“, I have no idea what the present day world might have been like…

SUBJECT 2 : AN ARROW LEAVING THE BOW :

The arrow is fired!  And as the arrow leaves the bow, booming in self-esteem as it is very much aware of the power it holds, we are prepared for the penultimate chapter in the Ramayana. Now, let us concentrate on the arrow. When the craftsman crafted the arrow, out of the finest branch (sorry, no connection with Engineering branches), little did he know that it was to craft the history in such a wonderful pattern! Now, all negotiations that could have been done, decisions that could have been altered and conclusions that could have been drawn, all lost their meaning, in a matter of seconds when the arrow was “fired”. An arrow that leaves the bow is bound to meet its fate… it cannot be drawn back for a trial and error session!… nothing can alter its path (now don’t jump in wit air currents concepts or some unseen hurdle that jumps into its path).
Similar, is the story with a modern day bullet. Do not forget that Nathuram Godse, John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, Mark David Chapman and the list goes on… too ‘fired’  bullets!

SUBJECT 3 : WORDS LEAVING THE BUCCAL CAVITY:

When Dasaratha  gave (slow firing) his word to Kaikeyi  to grant any two wishes to her of her choice, he had actually forced the occurrence of the Ramayana in Hindu Mythology. He seriously should not have overlooked the influence of Manthara on his third wife! Oh! what a lady she had been… Her constant “firings” into Kaikeyi’s ears did bear the true colours at the end of the day!
Coming to the game of dice, when Yudhistir fired his decision to put at stake all that he owned, including his brothers and Draupadi , he was actually booking the Kurukshetra for future use!  And again, how can the world forget all that pravachana, that Lord Krishna fired into the mind of Arjuna  at the beginning of the battle of Kurukshetra (we get the details in the Bhagavad Gita, thanks to the Literary Circle of that era!). There is hardly anything I can fire into this article, worthy enough to explain to you the worth of those words. But we all have reaped its benefits…
Now, speaking of M.K.Gandhi, he actually said so many stuffs during India’s fight for freedom, which eventually led to a free INDIA. We have lots of such speakers spread throughout the folds of history who invoked mass action  just by firing brave words! By firing “Hearts within and God o’erhead”, H.W.Longfellow did actually fuel the American revolution!

Friends, by now, you have hopefully understood all that I have been trying to imply. But a lot has remain unsaid, which I shall disclose in the next paragraph… Thank you for you patience.
When boss says, “you are fired”, the employee comes into a comatose state… he has little clue as to why is he being fired (though he makes some smart  guesses in his mind). He gives a blank gaze, with ‘ferret eyes’ to his employer, waiting for an explanation to this sudden act of disgust. Now, lots of things happen before the employee finally accepts the fact that he has the job no more and that he has to find some other way to win his bread !

That is what concerns us here.

The man/woman (not a lady, because all a lady has to do after losing a job is to find a gentleman with a nice job and get married! simple with a dimple!) now has a family to feed. He/She may rely on bank deposits temporarily, but every does not have Bill Gates’ Deposit box with size tending to infinity! The first attempt is always made to find an alternative job, maybe in a poorer environment with a lighter payroll, but enough to feed the growing mouths…

The problem arises when you are not rehabilitated. The situation is very much apart from unemployment. The person gradually gets cranky… hates social life (total frustation no kompensation), and the subject may also resort to violence! Growing terrorist activities, social disturbances, family dramas… all can be attributed to some form of firing.

The message is :
Think at least once, if not twice before you fire!!!
