NIT :The Parallel lives

For those of you who have seen the opening scene of "Rocket Singh :Salesman of the year", will surely know the feeling that lingers in the bosom of a student, however intelligent he might be, while he is eagerly waiting for the results to come out. Such emotions are heightened dramatically, when the student is a 12th passout, and the exam in discussion is AIEEE (or any other entrance examination). Only a student knows the happiness that the student feels when he sees his name on the CCB website with a rank sufficient enough to get his name enrolled into a prestigious college, (yes, you guessed that right, its called NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY). And if the student in the scene is a bong, then it has to be NIT DURGAPUR. ghorer chele bangla chere onno kothao porte jabe keno?!

Well, one fine morning such a student, arrives at the gates of NIT Durgapur, holding the hands of his father, whose diaphragm shifted a few extra inches, keeping his chest coming outward matching levels with his already protruding belly!!! (all due to the pride of getting his son into engineering, of course). amaar chele eengeennear, kono kotha hobe na!  Oh, and obviously you have the caring mother, carrying lunchboxes (arrey bangali bole kotha, khaoa niye eekebare no compromise!) trying to catch up to the pace of the male members walking ahead...

Considering, all the formalities done in the Reporting Centre in the college, the student walks back slowly, beside his parents, admiring the "beauty" of the college surroundings. yeah... its going to be MY college... Little does he realise then, the kind of life he is going to have in the four years of his B-Tech course, which sarcastically is far better than his parents could have imagined!!!
